In 2002,
the L. A. Avengers arena football team had two
problems. Nobody knew who the L.A. Avengers were and even fewer
people knew what arena football was. TV coverage would have solved
both problems, but no network would take a chance on so unproven
a sport.
Of course, Avengers management
had little time to dwell on all these negatives. They just needed
to sell their premium season tickets as quickly as possible. In
a few short weeks, the largest outdoor campaign posting in Los
Angeles history did just that; by communicating to a gung-ho crowd
how wild and wacky L. A. Avenger arena football could be. |
